When should I hire a postpartum doula in Charleston?
Many Charleston families book postpartum support during pregnancy (ideally second or third trimester) to secure scheduling, but we also accept last-minute requests after birth. We’re available 24/7 via phone, text, email, or video chat once your contract is signed, and visits typically begin within the first week postpartum.
How many postpartum doula visits do I need?
Most families benefit from 2-5 visits per week during the first few weeks, then gradually reduce frequency as confidence builds. We customize the schedule based on your needs—whether that’s daily support initially, a few visits weekly, or occasional check-ins through three months and beyond. The schedule adjusts as your family settles in.
What's the difference between a postpartum doula and a baby nurse?
Postpartum doulas focus on the entire family’s adjustment—supporting parents’ recovery, teaching newborn care, helping with feeding, and providing household assistance so you can rest. Baby nurses typically focus solely on infant care and may work overnight shifts. We educate and empower you to care for your baby confidently rather than taking over care.
Do you provide overnight postpartum support in Charleston?
Our standard postpartum shifts are daytime and evening (with pricing varying by time of day). Contact us to discuss your specific needs—we’ll work with you to find a solution that supports your family’s schedule throughout Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Summerville, and the Lowcountry.
Do postpartum doulas help with breastfeeding and lactation support?
Yes! As an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant), we provide comprehensive feeding support during postpartum visits including latch assistance, positioning, supply building, pumping guidance, and bottle feeding education. This integrated care means you get expert lactation support and postpartum recovery guidance from the same trusted provider.
