I was amazed watching this doula in action, and I was so excited she chose me to take photos for her! If anyone is considering a doula, you should contact Christina. She is so knowledgeable, passionate, sweet, thoughtful, selfless, caring, and comforting! I wish I knew her when I had my babies!!
Amber Stradtman Hoecht

First of all, I highly recommend that everyone hire a doula for their birth- they are amazing. Christina was a life saver for us. She met with us several times prior to delivery, helping us come up with a birth plan. During the actual birth of my daughter, she helped provide necessary support for myself and my husband so we could stick to our birth plan. Christina was caring, professional and knowledgeable throughout the whole process. After the birth, she helped us initiate breastfeeding (it’s a major plus that she’s a lactation consultant as well). She also provided help with questions when we got home and provided a post-partum visit. Thanks to Christina, we had the best birthing experience I could imagine. I HIGHLY recommend her to anyone looking for a doula.

The more I get to know Christina, the more I understand how important everyone’s well being is to her, whether that be emotionally or physically. She is really a one stop shop for a total holistic makeover. She thoroughly enjoys what she does and it radiates from her when she is speaking about all things pregnancy, birth, and nutrition related. Working alongside her is both inspiring and a privilege!

Christina is an incredible person to have on your birth or wellness team! She is extremely knowledgeable.

FAQs

How much does a birth doula cost in Charleston, SC?

Birth doula packages range from $2,000 (virtual-only support) to $2,500 (in-person and virtual). This includes prenatal visits, childbirth education, continuous labor support, and 24/7 availability. We also offer single prenatal/postpartum visits at $225 and 15-minute “Ask Anything” sessions for $35. Discounts are available for fostering, adopting, and repeat clients in the Charleston area.

What does a birth doula do during labor?

We provide continuous emotional, physical, and informational support throughout labor and birth. This includes comfort measures like breathing techniques, position changes, massage, and counterpressure, as well as helping you navigate decisions with your medical team. We support you and your partner so everyone feels confident and informed.

When should I hire a birth doula in Charleston?

Ideally during your second trimester (around 20-28 weeks) to allow time for prenatal visits and relationship-building. However, we accept clients at any stage of pregnancy and offer last-minute support when possible. Earlier hiring ensures we’re on-call for your birth and have time to create a personalized birth plan together.

What types of births do you support in Charleston and the Lowcountry?

All of them! We support families planning:

  • Home, birth center, and hospital births throughout Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Summerville, and surrounding areas
  • Vaginal and cesarean births (including scheduled and unplanned cesareans)
  • VBACs, water births, and lotus births
  • Medical inductions and non-medicated births
  • Twins, multiples, and high-risk pregnancies
  • Births honoring religious and cultural practices

Do birth doulas replace my partner or support person?

Not at all! We enhance your partner’s role by teaching them comfort techniques and helping them support you confidently. Many partners feel relieved to have an experienced guide, especially during long labors. We work alongside your support team to ensure everyone feels empowered and no one is overwhelmed.

What's the difference between Package A and Package B?

Package A ($2,000): Virtual-only continuous support during labor and two hours postpartum. Ideal for families who prefer remote guidance or have out-of-area support.

Package B ($2,500): In-person continuous labor support, prenatal doula visits with childbirth education, our doula bag with comfort tools, and 24/7 availability via phone, text, and video throughout your pregnancy and birth. This is our most comprehensive Charleston-area birth support.

Do you work with midwives and OB-GYNs in Charleston hospitals?

Yes! We collaborate seamlessly with your entire care team at MUSC, Roper Hospital, Trident Medical Center, and with home birth midwives throughout the Lowcountry. Doulas complement medical care by providing continuous support while your providers manage clinical aspects. We never replace medical professionals or make medical decisions.
